The Apprentice

You devour new knowledge like vampires consume blood, and always within you is an endless, hopeless need for more. With such a wide skill set and a breadth of modern education out there and available to someone of your talents, you've likely been coined the ultimate Renaissance Man - or women, were there any such person. Unfortunately boredom is literally painful to you; it eats away at something within you, and should you find yourself with nothing to do, your skin begins to itch and heat and crawl until you are - actually - burning from the inside out. It's almost killed you before.

Long Description: You disguise it with bravado, but if you are not challenging your mind with something new, or mastering the depths of a skill you already have some grounding in, you feel a dreadful, melancholy emptiness in the pit of your soul. Thankfully, others are fascinated by you and you frequently find yourself given the stimulation you crave. When they haven't - or when the quicksilver speed of your mind isn't enough - you start to fiddle, to sweat, to panic. Over the course of an hour you begin to physically hurt.

Once, when you'd become trapped with nothing to do for a day, agonising cramps had started up in your gut, and your skin eventually started to bubble. A whole night and a day without stimulus is enough, you genuinely know, to kill you. You wake at least once every night to continue learning something new; yours is a life of a stressed insomniac. Your sleep cycles are strange, you might nap here and there in the day over a book.

You learn new skills incredibly fast - so fast that you could learn a new language in a few days, or become proficient in a weapon in several hours. Mastering a weapon - or a subject - of course takes longer, but what takes a normal person years might take you months with a good tutor. You are inexplicably drawn towards complicated interests and challenges, and were you to be exposed to vampire sorcery of any kind you would likely find yourself enthralled, desperate to learn this forbidden knowledge for yourself.

Your power understandably terrifies you. It feels as though you have no control over your life. Without feeding this insatiable appetite for more, you will face, plainly: death. You'd feel sorry for other people if they didn't have it quite so easy. You've never known what it feels like just to relax and enjoy the things you've worked hard to achieve.

(Note: You and The Forger might have a lot of emotional common ground.)
