The Bond-Breaker

Your blood out-competes and out-masters all others for its strength. Something within you rejects shackles outright, and your blood not only dominates others into submission, but it shrugs off attempts to subdue you with laughable ease. Unfortunately this makes you one of the most targeted humans by vampires - a creature known for oppressing the will of its victims through the addictive properties of its blood. Properties that you ignore entirely.

Long Description: Whether you call it being stubborn, intractable, or just plain ornery, your character has a fire inside that just won’t quit — no matter the circumstances. There is something strange and powerful lurking in your blood, providing it with the ability to make foreign blood lose its influence over your emotions. You are immune to the vampiric blood bond, including the lesser bonds of any blood-sharing rituals meant to bind packs of vampires together, and humans to their will. You are as susceptible to other vampiric or supernatural powers (including those of your fellow captives) but their blood will have no lasting effect on you. You might experience something if fed the blood of other human characters (if their blood is meant to do something) but you can shrug it off with greater ease, almost always within a few minutes at most.

The greatest anomaly of your blood will only manifest on the second night of the auction - a strange and almost sentient response of your power to the captivity it finds itself labouring. For on the second night your blood will be able to inspire the blood bond in other humans, a poor mockery to whatever people might say of you breaking bonds. Something in you has had enough, and it will do whatever it needs to get out, even if that means subjugating your own kind.

Mechanics: If fed to a vampire, they will be freed of all blood bonds (see Vampire: the Masquerade page if you’re unfamiliar with the term). Your blood does not purge any other ailments or effects. A vampire suffering under a low level or recently formed blood bond will take what amounts to a half pint of your blood to be freed, it needs to be ingested directly by the vampire and your blood cannot be stored; it loses its effect and potency.

A level "two" blood bind will require double this to break, and a far deeper drink from your veins.

To shatter the strongest level of blood bond requires a great deal of you. This is especially true of very old blood bonds that have been in place for years. Almost two full pints, roughly. This is extremely aggravating to something deep inside of you.

Indeed anyone stripping you of your blood leaves you furious. It feels like the greatest kind of invasion, to be used thus. It’s manageable if you’re the one to offer your own blood, though even then there’s still a sly thing inside of you that raises its dark head, irritable that it should be your blood - pure, untapped, powerful - given to something so inferior.

You have no idea where this feeling comes from, or when it started. Perhaps you’ve been this way since the very start, and by this point in your life you’ve developed a complex or personality around it.

As a human your blood does not create any blood bond to a vampire, except one clan.

When a Tremere vampire (see Clans page) has their Bonds broken in this way - they become Blood Bonded to you instead, to the same extremity as was the greatest bond of theirs that you broke. You are likely entirely unaware of this, since the Giovanni could not test for it. This is the exception: otherwise as a human your blood does not bind anyone as a vampire's would.

Should you become a vampire, however, everyone who drinks of you (no matter their resistances) will become automatically bound to you to a greater degree than they ordinarily would; the vampiric version of your blood creates an automatic level two blood bond in the drinker, rather than level one.

On night two of the game you may discover that your blood can create the blood bond in humans in the same way as a vampire’s would, starting at a level one blood bond for that night - and a level two blood bond on night three if the same human should drink from you a second time. If the human who is bonded to you becomes a vampire, their new sire’s bond does not remove yours.

As the weekend develops you should find that you are indeed a Bond Breaker - but only so much as your blood wants to bind everyone else to its own will.
